Counselor's Corner

Welcome to the CES counseling page!  I am Mrs. Rackley.  This is my seventh year as the School Counselor here at CES.   I was a School Counselor in Virginia prior to moving back home to Northeast Georgia.  I am married to a wonderful man, Blake.  We have a seven year old son, Jon Michael, who is a student at Carnesville Primary, and a three year old daughter, Kiersten.  I am thrilled to be a part of the Carnesville Elementary family!

Please read below to find some of the ways that I serve your student(s) here at CES.  Our exciting character education focus for the year is also outlined below!

"The habits we form from childhood make no small difference, but rather make all the
difference." Aristotle

One of the primary goals of the counseling program at Carnesville Elementary is to help foster a positive educational environment.  I work collaboratively with teachers and staff to help ensure that all students acquire the effective learning skills they need to be successful in school and throughout life.

I work with every child in the building a minimum of once a month.  This occurs through classroom guidance lessons where I enter your child's classroom and teach lessons focusing on areas such as character education, test-taking skills, study skills, and conflict resolution.  I also work with some students in small group sessions.  These groups are formed based on presented needs and participation is determined by parent and teacher referral.   Individual counseling is also available for those students who need one-on-one focus in a particular area.

Please feel free to contact me with any concerns regarding your child.  It is through working together that we can help each child reach his/her fullest potential!

 *** Character Education ***

Character Education is an important focus at CES.  We focus on a different character trait each month.  This year we will be using our SOAR pledge to kick off our character traits.

October- Self-Control

November- On-Task

December-Perseverance (Always do my best)

January- Respectful

February- Responsible

March- Resilience

April- Honesty

May- Courage

Each homeroom will select a Student of the Month based on the character focus of the month.  The selected student receives a yard sign for his/her yard for the month along with a certificate!  A group photograph is also taken and submitted to the Franklin County Citizen.  I am so proud of our students and all that they are learning!
